Transitional Kindergarten Teacher:  

We are looking for a dedicated Lead Teacher for our Transitional Kindergarten program. This "bridge" year focuses on helping children refine social-emotional skills and cognitive independence before entering a traditional Kindergarten setting. You will lead a small group of learners, tailoring instruction to individual developmental milestones.  

Key Responsibilities  

  • Play-Based Instruction: Create a rich, stimulating environment with art stations, reading corners, and play areas to encourage exploration.  

  • Curriculum Development: Design weekly lesson plans that balance structured learning (early literacy/numeracy) through play..  

  • Developmental Monitoring: Observe and document student progress, facilitating parent-teacher dialogues twice a school year.  

  • Community Building: Maintain daily, open communications to support each child’s unique transition into formal schooling and cultivate family relationships.  

  • Health & Safety: Ensure the classroom is a clean, safe, and nurturing space, following all.   

Core Teaching Requirements  

  • Certification: Lead teachers in public school district classrooms must be certified by the Accepted certifications include:  

Early Childhood (Birth–Grade 2).  

Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grades 1–6 (N–6).  

Prekindergarten–Grade 6 (P–6).  

Students with Disabilities (Birth–Grade 2).   

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement for initial certification, followed by a Master’s degree within five years to achieve professional certification.   

  • Examinations: Candidates must pass the New York State Teacher Certification  

Candidates must meet one of the following NY State criteria for registered Nursery Schools.  

  1. NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 2).  

  1. A Two-year major in nursery education plus three years of teaching experience.  

  1. Ten years of experience in early childhood plus at least 20 credit hours in Early Childhood EducationAdditional Requirements  

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred  

  • Staff Background Form and medical clearance on file.  

  • Strong collaborative spirit for working in a small team.   

Benefits & Compensation  

  • Hourly Rate: $20.00 to $25.00 based on experience.  

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, school-day hours 8:30 to 12:15 ideal for someone looking for a work life balance.
